HITC understands that Sporting Lisbon could accept bids lower than Viktor Gyokeres’ release clause to allow him to leave this summer.

The Swedish international has become one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe after shining for the Portuguese outfit last season.

There has been plenty of interest in the 26-year-old forward from the Premier League with Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea all having watched him closely over the last six months.

HITC reported earlier this year that Arsenal stepped up interest in Viktor Gyokeres as Mikel Arteta targets a new striker this summer.

Manchester United also retained an interest in Viktor Gyokeres but with Joshua Zirkzee‘s move to Old Trafford now complete they have turned their attention elsewhere.

There has been no hurry around Gyokeres finding a new club with the striker recovering from a minor surgery he received earlier this summer.

Sporting Lisbon will consider offers below release clause

There is a genuine feeling among interested clubs that Sporting Lisbon could accept offers for Gyokeres below the release clause in his contract.

It is understood that a release clause in his Sporting contract is worth £85million, but offers below that figure could also be considered.

The one stumbling block for buying clubs is that manager Ruben Amorim is staying put in Lisbon and is encouraging the club’s hierarchy to keep hold of Gyokeres for the upcoming season.

Amorim is also keen to block the sale of Goncalo Inacio, Morten Hjulmand and Pedro Goncalves as he attempts to keep hold of his title-winning side.

However, sales are expected to take place and Gyokeres could be among a list of stars where bids will be considered.

With Arsenal and Liverpool both on the lookout for a new centre-forward this summer, a cut-price deal for Gyokeres could see the Premier League duo go head-to-head for his signature.
