Simon Jordan has claimed that Arsenal signing, both Gabriel Jesus and Raphinha, this simmer is a ‘statement of intent’ from the club.

But the former Crystal Palace owner made it clear that it’s ‘laughable’ to suggest that those two possible signings will push Arsenal towards the Premier League title.

It seems as though it’s only a matter of time before the north London club confirm the capture of Jesus from Manchester City – he was seen hugging Edu Gaspar recently.

But it’s a different story regarding Leeds United winger, Raphinha, with Chelsea seemingly being close to agreeing a fee with the Yorkshire club for their star player, who is yet to decide where he will move.

Either way, Arsenal are fishing for the big boys this summer, as Jordan shared whether that will push them towards the Premier League title, as he told talkSPORT.

“It will be laughable to think if two signings of players that, one that played in a side which narrowly avoided relegation, one that has played for an elite side but doesn’t score the goals for the numbers of chances it creates,” said Jordan.

“What it does do is that it gives Arsenal fans some feeling of encouragement.

“If Raphinha does land at Arsenal, you are talking about two Brazilian players coming into this team – I think both Jesus and Raphinha are statements of intent. I think if Arteta is a decent coach, then he will get them into the right frame of mind.

“They have both come from backgrounds where they have worked with very interesting coaches. Bielsa and Guardiola.

“So, I don’t think in any, shape or form, in this universe or the next, tells you that Arsenal are going to be winning the Premier League very soon. But what it will do is make the race for the top four even more compelling.”

JESUS BETTER SIGNING THAN RAPHINHA

For Arsenal, in the situation they are in, they need a player like Jesus more than Raphinha because he fills that number nine void.

Plus, his style of play, ability to play across the front three, link-up play, create space for teammates and creativity in between the lines is what Mikel Arteta is craving the most.

Of course, adding Raphinha to the mix, after he scored 11 Premier League goals for Leeds last season, would elevate this Arsenal forward line to the next level.

But, the main one was Jesus and that seems to be done, although, with the Gunners returning to the Europa League more is needed.
