Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has been discussing Aaron Ramsdale and his brilliant debut season for Arsenal.

The goalkeeper has been brilliant for the Gunners since arriving from Sheffield United in the summer, and Ferdinand is the latest pundit to shower the goalkeeper in some much-deserved praise.

Ferdinand was discussing his Signings of the Season, and inevitably, Ramsdale came up in the conversation alongside the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Christian Eriksen.

What’s been said?

Ferdinand was full of praise for Ramsdale.

“Aaron Ramsdale, yes, he started the season ridiculously well. He was being spoken about to play for England, he’ll be a top goalkeeper for years to come. Guimaraes has been very good as well at Newcastle. Eriksen, I don’t think he’s played enough games to be in this conversation, but he has been a top player since he’s come in,” Ferdinand said.

Sorted for a decade

Ramsdale has been brilliant for the Gunners this season, and at the age of just 23, the goalkeeper could be the London club’s number 1 for the remainder of the Mikel Arteta era and beyond.

Having a great goalkeeper is absolutely vital to any top club, and now it looks like Arsenal could be set in that position for the next decade.

In 10 years, Ramsdale will only be 33, and for many goalkeepers, that’s when they’re in the prime of their careers.

Of course, it’s hard to judge any player after just one season at a top club, and sadly, for goalkeepers especially, confidence is a huge factor.

Ferdinand says that Ramsdale will be a top goalkeeper for years to come, and he might be absolutely right.
