Stan Collymore has said that Newcastle United should sign Moises Caicedo from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window.

The former Liverpool striker has written in CaughtOffSide just why and how Caicedo would make Newcastle a better team.

The pundit has noted that the 21-year-old Ecuador international midfielder is “incredibly athletic”.

Collymore wrote: “The other player I’d choose would be Moises Caicedo.

“He’s incredibly athletic and if they got those three in, I would say Newcastle are taking the steps to be a top four staple.”

HITC Verdict: Summer transfer unlikely

In our view, Newcastle United are unlikely to be able to sign Moises Caicedo from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old has only just signed a new contract.

And, as reported by The Telegraph, Brighton turned down bids of £60 million and £70 million from Arsenal in the January transfer window.

Would Newcastle be willing to pay over £70 million for the 21-year-old in the summer transfer window?

Moreover, Arsenal are still reportedly keen on Caicedo, who has publicly said that he wanted to make the switch to the Gunners in the middle of the season.

We do not see Newcastle being able to sign the youngster in the summer transfer window.
