Tottenham’s decision to allow Pedro Porro to play in the League Cup final this weekend may have just boosted their chances of signing Sporting’s Marcus Edwards.

The North London club have been linked with the young winger for some time now, and this move could help Spurs to form a stronger relationship with Sporting and their Director of Football, Hugo Viana.

As we all know, the transfer window is a complicated and tricky warzone.

Clubs are always looking to gain an advantage over one another, and relationships between clubs play a huge role in this.

Tottenham’s decision to allow Porro to play in the final may have just given them the upper hand in their pursuit of Edwards as they will now have a stronger relationship with Sporting.

Edwards is certainly a player Spurs could do with. After all, he’s been compared to Lionel Messi in the past by Mauricio Pochettino.

Porro is set to sign for Spurs before the end of the transfer window, but the club have agreed to let him play in the final as a gesture of goodwill. This move shows that Tottenham are willing to be cooperative and understanding, and it could help to build a positive relationship between the two clubs.

Sporting may now see Tottenham as a club that is willing to work with them and respect their decisions. This could make it more likely that they will be willing to negotiate with Spurs over the transfer of Edwards at some point in the future.

Spurs’ case is boosted further in that they have a sell-on clause for Edwards, and now that club-to-club relations are strong, Sporting should be open to negotiating perhaps a cheaper fee with the sell-on clause in mind.

The transfer market not only about the money, it’s also about contacts and relations. And Tottenham’s decision to allow Porro to play in the final may have just helped to build a stronger bond with Sporting and their transfer team. This could be the key to unlocking the door for Edwards to Spurs in the future.
