Sporting have reportedly made a request to Tottenham for Pedro Porro to play in the League Cup final this weekend, before he officially signs for the English club.
According to journalist Bruno Andrade, Sporting want Porro to be a part of the squad for the final.
The League Cup final is a big occasion for Sporting and it’s understandable that they want Porro to be a part of it. He is a key player for the team and his presence on the field could make a significant difference in the match.
Porro has proven to be a difference-maker on a number of occasions this season, including in Sporting’s most recent game where he scored a last-minute winner.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Sporting have made such a request. They actually asked similar of Manchester United before they signed Bruno Fernandes from Sporting back in January 2020.
Tottenham have been in negotiations for Porro throughout January and it appears that they are closing in on the signing. However, this request from Sporting may be a cause for concern for the north London, as it could put Porro at risk of getting injured before he even joins the club.
Despite this, it could also be seen as a gesture of goodwill from Spurs towards Sporting. By allowing Porro to play in the final, they are showing that they are willing to cooperate and work together with the Portuguese club, which could bode well for any future transfer negotiations between the two clubs.
It’s also worth noting that Andrade, once again, mentioned that Porro has agreed to join Tottenham, meaning that the deal is close to completion.
Porro could soon be a Spurs player, but it looks as though he’s going to play one final game for Sporting this weekend before heading to London.
