Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly set out their demands before they agree to sell Danny Rose to Manchester United.

According to a recent report from The Sun, Tottenham have demanded that Manchester United will have to pay £40 million and send Luke Shaw the other way if they hope to sign Danny Rose this summer.

The Sun reports that Mauricio Pochettino is keen to keep hold of Rose beyond this summer, but United appear to be interested to test Spurs’ resolve to keep hold of the 27-year-old during the coming months.

Daniel Levy has seemingly not shut the door on Rose leaving for Old Trafford, but The Sun adds that Manchester United will have to allow Shaw to move to Tottenham and pay Spurs £40 million if they want a deal.

It is not clear whether Jose Mourinho – who has fallen out with Shaw, according to the report – will want the deal that much, but one thing that is clear is that if United decide to meet those demands, Levy has to be considered a genius at getting the very best deal when it comes to selling players.

Rose is a huge talent and – based on how the fans reacted to Ben Davies’ FA Cup semi-final display – would get into Spurs’ strongest lineup, but those terms could see Tottenham pull off a sensational piece of business.

Shaw is around five years younger and became one of the most impressive left-sided players in the country while working under Pochettino, and has the time to get back to that level and then surpass it in the future.

And if Spurs’ transfer kitty is also boosted by £40 million, it is difficult to see how Tottenham fans could be against the idea, especially as there appears to have been questions about Rose’s future for a long time now and a swap would bring an end to that uncertainty.

Whether United have any interest in meeting those demands however, remains to be seen.
