Harvey White has claimed that he felt comfortable operating as a striker for Tottenham in their 4-0 victory against Motherwell in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

Harry Kane was not in the Spurs squad, as he was recovering from England’s exit from the World Cup in the quarter-finals.

Additionally, one expects the 29-year-old to still be reeling from the fact that he missed the decisive penalty against France.

Similarly, Son Heung-min and Richarlison, who are the club’s alternatives up front must be doing the same after the eliminations suffered by South Korea and Brazil respectively.

White, who is a defensive midfielder by trade was deployed up front against Motherwell by Antonio Conte.

Flanked by Dejan Kulusevski and Bryan Gil, the Tottenham academy product was perhaps the only forward in the front three operating out of position.

However, he seemed to have no qualms about doing so.

After Tottenham beat Motherwell 4-0 on Friday, Harvey White discussed how he did not feel out of place playing as a striker.

“It’s a different role but in many ways, it’s like playing as a holding midfielder, my usual position”, he said in a club interview, as quoted by Football.London.

“The passing patterns, one-two touch, everything I’m used to and then playing with Deki [Dejan Kulusevski] and Bryan, that’s been great, we’re on the same wavelength.”

Harvey White could hand Antonio Conte an in-house solution up front

Ever since Harry Kane broke into Tottenham’s first-team, the club have desperately needed a backup striker.

However, this has been easier said than done as the likes of Carlos Vinicius, Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen have not lived up to the billing.

If Harvey White can do a commendable job as a makeshift No.9, Antonio Conte may finally have an in-house solution at his hands.

Clearly, Conte seem to rate the youngster, as he blocked his loan switch, as per Dan Kilpatrick of the Standard.
