Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly valued Cameron Carter-Vickers at £10m if Celtic want to sign the defender beyond his current loan spell with the club.
According to the Daily Record, Celtic’s option-to-buy clause for Carter Vickers stands at £10m. The USA international centre-back has become a key player for the Scottish giants after joining them on loan for the season.
With Carter-Vickers playing just 447 minutes in five years for Tottenham, as per Transfermarkt, the defender’s future is likely to lie away from north London. Yet fans on social media are stunned by the club’s £10m valuation.
After all, while Carter-Vickers has impressed during various loan spells away from Tottenham, not much has suggested the Essex-born defender is worth anywhere near £10m.
And as you might expect, Spurs fans on social media are baffled by this price tag for Carter-Vickers. Moreover, that decision could see the 23-year-old return to the club next summer despite shining for Celtic.
As per the report, the Hoops are eager to sign Carter-Vickers on a permanent deal. And, although £10m is well within their budget, it is a high transfer fee for a centre-back.
Spurs fans react as Celtic must pay £10m for Carter-Vickers

Indeed, Spurs would do well to recoup £10m for their academy graduate. But, based on reaction from social media, fans are blown away by how much the club seem to think they can get for the defender.
After all, £10m for a 23-year-old who has yet to play in the Premier League seems an absurd price tag. And Spurs fans on social media are far from confident that valuation will ever be matched.
Here’s what some Tottenham fans on Twitter had to say about Carter-Vickers’ reported price tag and Celtic’s interest…
