Darren Lewis thinks Tottenham Hotspur fans should be ‘as worried’ about losing Son Heung-min as they are about losing Harry Kane in the summer.

The Mirror journalist added that Son Heung-min is a player who can ‘easily’ play for ‘one of the top teams’ in the Premier League and in Europe.

The 30-year-old recently became a record-breaker when his opening goal during Tottenham’s win over Brighton meant that he became the first Asian to score 100 Premier League goals.

That partnership the South Korean star has built up with Harry Kane over the years has been deadly, and without it, Spurs would be in a world of bother.

There is talk of Kane possibly leaving north London in the summer – Manchester United have strongly been linked to the England captain.

But whilst Kane takes the headlines, in that regard, Darren Lewis made it clear that Son shouldn’t be forgotten about also, as he told Premier League Productions (10/04/23 at 2:35 pm).

“I think, even at 30, he (Son) could easily play for one of the top teams in the Premier League and in Europe,” said Lewis.

“He has only scored seven Premier League goals so far this season, so by his standards, it’s actually quite an underwhelming season.

“But I think a lot of Spurs fans worry about if Spurs lose Kane. I would be just as worried if Spurs were to lose that boy.”

CAN LEVY TIE DOWN SON AND KANE TO NEW CONTRACTS?

Amid the doom and gloom from Spurs fans, it would seriously waken up the crowd and lift the supporters if their record-breaking duo extend their stay.

Kane is more important because of who he is and the fact that, come this summer, he will have 12 months left to run on his contract.

But someone like Son shouldn’t be forgotten about because his current deal expires in 2025, so in these next 12 months, a call will need to be made with him also.
