Christian Eriksen struggled in Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League opener last night.

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted to Football London that Christian Eriksen struggled in Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League opener last night.
Spurs raced into a 2-0 lead away to Olympiacos but wound up drawing 2-2 in Athens.
Tottenham fans weren’t happy with a number of individual performances but the Denmark international seemed to particularly upset supporters of the North London club.
The former Ajax playmaker came close to leaving the Lilywhites this past summer but despite claiming that he is happy with Eriksen’s commitment overall, Pochettino acknowledges that last night wasn’t his finest game.
He told Football London: “Maybe yesterday wasn’t his best game like the team. The collective performance wasn’t the best from us. I am happy with the commitment of Christian, he run a lot and was very committed with the team, the effort but I think I am not concerned about him.”
Eriksen’s form is a big, big worry. He has looked rather indifferent to Tottenham for much of 2019 and not getting a move away in the summer, after publicly stating that he wanted to leave, might compound things from his perspective.
On his day, the Dane is an outstanding asset, but it hasn’t been ‘his day’ too often this calendar year and time will tell whether Pochettino can get him on song.
