Arsenal progressed to the next round of the EFL Trophy after a penalty shoot-out win against Ipswich Town, with Omari Hutchinson scoring the decisive kick.

The 18-year-old winger was key to the U-23 side securing their impressive result over Ipswich after Arsenal originally went 2-0 down. However, an own goal and a strike from Folarin Balogun forced the game into penalties, which the Gunners duly won.

Indeed, it was Hutchinson who assisted Balogun to level the game up. And the attacker, who shone for Kevy Betsy’s side this season, was one of the best players on the night as Arsenal’s U-23s progressed to the next round of the EFL Trophy.

The young Arsenal side have never made it to this stage of the competition, and Hutchinson and company will now have another match against a professional club to contend with later in the month.

Following a disastrous campaign last year, Betsy’s Arsenal side have been in fine form this season, with Hutchinson one of the key players in the England coach’s system.

Moreover, following the emergence of Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka to the senior squad, Arsenal fans are eager to discover who the next Hale End graduate will be to make their mark on the first team.

With so many talented players in Arsenal’s U-23 side, it feels almost impossible to predict who will be next to catch Mikel Arteta’s eyes, yet Hutchinson could make a strong case for himself.

After all, the winger was one of the best players against Ipswich last night, and Hutchinson will now have another chance to impress for Arsenal against a professional club in the EFL Trophy. And fans loved what they saw from the attacker.
