Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Kamaldeen Sulemana is set to have a medical with Southampton, as his deadline day switch from Rennes is all but confirmed.

L’Equipe had reported that the talented winger, who Erik ten Hag called an ‘exceptional player’ (via Modern Ghana) turned down a move to Everton in order to sign for Nathan Jones’ side.

Sulemana set to have Southampton medical ahead of deadline day move

Considering the Saints plan to kickstart their charge towards survival after languishing as low as in 20th place in the league, the signing of the prodigious forward comes as a blessing.

And now, Southampton supporters have another reason to breathe a sigh of relief, as Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Kamaldeen Sulemana is set to undergo his medical at Southampton.

Romano has also claimed that the deal is set to cost £26 million in total, with a £22 million initial fee accompanied by £4 million in add-ons, which has been accepted by Rennes to sell their prized asset.

Now, the hope will remain that all goes well for Kamaldeen Sulemana, as a botched medical would be the last news Southampton need on deadline day after what has been a torrid season so far.

Sulemana is a top signing from the Saints

Considering the winter market tends to be one where a host of clubs can only pick up scraps, this is a wonderful piece of business from the Saints.

The 20-year-old is regarded as one of the most talented wingers in Europe, possessing the potential to add a ton of goals and assists to the side.

As Kamaldeen Sulemana is set to undergo his medical at Southampton on deadline day, this seems to be the end of their arduous chase for the Everton target.

Now, fingers must be crossed at St. Mary’s that the young buck makes an instant impact and saves the side from relegation.
