A new report has emerged which claims that Southampton scouts hold an interest in a transfer for Carlos Borges and have ‘closely monitored’ his progress in the youth team.

Furthermore, it has been mentioned that the teenager himself would be open to a switch, as he is keen on playing regular first-team football.

Southampton are smart in giving some of the Sky Blues’ youngsters a chance

At Manchester City, one has to be a unique talent like Phil Foden or Rico Lewis to become a regular starter and even then, their chances of getting minutes all relies on the circumstances of the players occupying their respective positions.

The same is not the case at Southampton and as a result, the likes of Romeo Lavia and Gavin Bazunu have become certified starters in the side and the same could be the case if a transfer for Carlos Borges goes through.

Alongside another gem from the Premier League champions’ academy in Samuel Edozie, the pair could wreak havoc at St. Mary’s.
