The Southampton striker could be a wonderful addition to the Burnley squad this winter.

Sean Dyche, Manager of Burnley looks on during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley at Wembley Stadium on August 27, 2017 in London, England.

Sean Dyche continues to work miracles at Turf Moor, with his Clarets side currently sitting in seventh position in the Premier League table, after a healthy return of 13 points from their opening eight league outings.

One potential concern for the Burnley boss, however, will be his side’s lack of goals, with just five goals scored in their last seven Premier League games, following their incredible three-goal haul on the opening day away at Chelsea.

With this in mind, Dyche will surely be prioritising the signing of an established striker in January, and who better than Southampton hitman Charlie Austin.

The 28-year-old spent two-and-a-half years at Turf Moor, and was a fan favourite, racking up 41 goals in 82 league appearances for the Lancashire outfit.

The Englishman is a clinical finisher – something that the Clarets are currently short of, and his tireless work-rate, combined with his ability to hold the ball up could prove to be invaluable for Burnley.

Austin possesses all of the attributes required to be a success in the Premier League, and his playing style makes him the ideal strike partner for Chris Wood.

Whilst it is debatable whether the Saints would contemplate selling the 28-year-old, Burnley should at least test their resolve and make an approach for him in January.
