The experienced German would be an excellent addition to the Burnley squad.

Sean Dyche, Manager of Burnley looks on during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley at Wembley Stadium on August 27, 2017 in London, England.

Sean Dyche continues to impress in his role as Clarets boss, with his side losing just one of their opening six Premier League games.

He will surely be looking to strengthen further still in January, however, with the addition of an established centre-back likely to be a priority.

Michael Keane left Turf Moor in the summer, leaving Dyche with just two options in central defence – Ben Mee and James Tarkowski, although it could be argued that Jack Cork could fill in if necessary.

That does not take away Burnley’s real need for another centre-back nevertheless, and a useful option for them, considering the club’s paltry financial budget, could be free agent Jan Kirchhoff.

The towering German would be ideal for the Lancashire outfit, what with the wealth of experience and genuine quality that he possesses.

Standing at 6ft 5in tall, Kirchhoff is fantastic in the air, and he would bring a certain kind of physical presence to the Clarets’ backline that is currently lacking.

Dyche’s team face a long and physically punishing campaign ahead of them, and the addition of another defender will be crucial to their hopes of achieving a successful Premier League season.

And with a player of Kirchhoff’s calibre available on a free transfer, Dyche should not hesitate to bring him to Turf Moor.
