Sevilla director Monchi has stated his La Liga outfit released Isco as the midfielder failed to meet their expectations. Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are now on alert to his situation.
Isco only joined Los Nervionenses in the summer following his release by Real Madrid after a trophy-laden nine years. But Sevilla announced on Wednesday that they had reached an agreement to terminate the 30-year-old’s contract. He made 19 appearances for the club.

Julen Lopetegui was instrumental to Sevilla’s pursuit of Isco over the off-season from their brief spell together at Real Madrid in 2018. But Los Nervionenses sacked the former Spain boss in October. Wolves would appoint Lopetegui as their latest head coach in November.

The exit signs then started to emerge for Isco at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Marca reported earlier in December that the 38-cap Spain star and Monchi had a war of words at Sevilla’s training base. The incident is thought to have brought about his eventual release.
Marca’s report also saw The Sun suggest Arsenal and Tottenham are on red alert to Isco’s availability. The north London rivals both rivalled Los Nervionenses for a Bosman deal over the off-season. But he elected to reunite with Lopetegui in what would become a mistake.

Monchi ‘sorry’ as Sevilla release Isco amid links to Arsenal and Tottenham
Monchi has now stated that Sevilla, as a club, are ‘sorry’ to release Isco amid his fresh links to Arsenal and Tottenham. But the Nervionenses sports director believes it was the correct decision. He notes that the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan hierarchy were not impressed.
“We are sorry for how it ended but he did not meet the club’s expectations,” Monchi said, via quotes by Calciomercato.

Isco produced just one goal and laid on three assists over his 19 appearances for Sevilla in all competitions. He also started in 16 of his appearances, including 10 of a potential 12 La Liga fixtures. While the ex-Real Madrid star scored his only goal in the Champions League.
The five-time Champions League winner struck during Sevilla’s 3-0 win over Copenhagen in October. He also laid on one assist as Los Nervionenses lost 3-1 at Manchester City in their final Group G tie. Isco found Rafa Mir with his corner to break the deadlock on 31 minutes.
