According to The Sun, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Isco from Sevilla in the January transfer window.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur linked with Isco

The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Arsenal and Tottenham wanted to sign Isco in the summer of 2022 before the Spanish playmaker left Real Madrid on a free transfer to join Sevilla.

Marca have reported that Sevilla are not happy with the 30-year-old attacking midfielder and are ready to sell him in the January transfer window.

And, according to The Sun, that has put North London clubs Arsenal and Tottenham on red alert.

Should Spurs and the Gunners make bids?

In our opinion, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur should not sign Isco from Sevilla in the January transfer window.

The 30-year-old struggled in his final seasons at Madrid, and although he won La Liga and the UEFA Champions League regularly with Los Blancos, his failure to do much of note at Sevilla shows that he is in decline.

Yes, Isco is still only 30 and former Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino called him “magic” in October 2017, as quoted in Marca, but we do not think that Arsenal need him, as they have Martin Odegaard as the creator-in-chief.

Tottenham could do with a playmaker in the mould of Christian Eriksen, but we do not see Isco making an immediate impact at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
