Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Fenerbahce defender and South Korean international Kim Min-jae, with Spurs eyeing the centre-back for some time.

The 25-year-old unit has often been regarded as one of the most exciting Asian defending talents to come from the continent in some time, with Kim taking his skills to Turkey last summer and since becoming a key player for Fenerbahce.

With Tottenham set to head to South Korea this summer with the north London side having both the male and female national team captains on their books, it makes sense why Spurs are once again looking towards the East Asia powerhouses for new signings.

South Korea has seen some incredible talents play in the Premier League, and here are just five who made a name for themselves as Tottenham look to intensify their interest in Kim this summer.

Ki Sung-yueng

A midfielder who spent the best part of ten years in the United Kingdom, Ki Sung-yeung made a name for himself at Celtic after joining the Scottish giants in 2010, where the now-33-year-old won the SPL title in 2012 before moving to Swansea City.

Becoming a regular for the Welsh side in their impressive first few years in the Premier League, Ki helped Swansea to the League Cup in 2013 before heading to Newcastle United, where the midfielder became captain of South Korea for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, with the former Magpies now back in his homeland with FC Seoul.

With 91 goals in the Premier League at the time of writing, Heung-min Son is the highest-scoring Asian in the history of English football, and it might be a fair suggestion to say that the Tottenham superstar is the best South Korean player of all time.

The current captain of the national team and one of the most famous people in the country, Son has taken South Korean football to new heights since establishing himself as a superstar for Tottenham, and with the club now interested in Kim, the East Asian influence in north London could grow stronger next season.

Park Ji-sung

The original South Korean superstar and a cult hero at Old Trafford, Park Ji-sung is remembered by many as a loyal and entrusted member of the Manchester United team that dominated the 2000s.

Nicknamed ‘Three Lung Park’ for his incredible stamina and tireless work rate, Park won the UEFA Champions League and four Premier League titles during his stay with the Red Devils, making the former midfielder the most decorated South Korean in English football.

Lee Chung-yong

Another South Korean who spent almost a decade in England, Lee Chung-yong made close to 250 appearances for both Bolton Wanderers and Crystal Palace, with the midfielder part of the Eagles squad that were runners-up in the 2016 FA Cup final.

A cult hero at Bolton who almost returned to the club after being released by Palace, Lee moved on to Germany after departing Selhurst Park, with the 90-cap South Korean international now playing for Ulsan Hyundai in the K-League.

Hwang Hee-chan

The latest South Korean to join the Premier League, Hwang Hee-chan made a splash at Wolves at the start of the season after scoring five goals in his first few games for the club, with Bruno Lage’s side making his loan deal permanent this January.

A former star for RB Salzburg and an attacker who worked wonders alongside Erling Haaland, Hwang is on the path to becoming a top player with Wolves, with the striker impressing for the Molineux side on multiple occasions this season.
