Arsenal visit Tottenham Hotspur next month in what could be a massive Premier League game.
Well, North London derbies are always major fixtures.
But this season, the second of the campaign could be a lot more significant than usual.
Arsenal are two points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham in the hunt for Champions League qualification.
There’ll be two more games after this derby and the result in this could well determine whether the Gunners or Spurs finish in that coveted fourth place.
The Emirates Stadium outfit are the more in-form of both outfits, having beaten Chelsea and Manchester United over the past week.
But if there’s anything we know about this top-four race, it’s that whoever is in fourth tends to surrender the position eventually.
However, former Arsenal hitman Kevin Campbell does not believe the derby will decide anything, predicting that it’ll end in a stalemate.
He told The Highbury Squad: “I think it’s going to end in a draw. I do. Listen, I want us to win so badly, but something tells me it’s going to end in a draw to keep us on the edge.”
When is the North London derby?
The second and final North London derby of the 2021-22 campaign will take place on May 12.
Tottenham are the home team and therefore Antonio Conte’s side might just be slight favourites, though what happens over the next two games, with Arsenal bang in form and high in belief, could well make Spurs the underdogs by the time this one comes around.
It’ll be a massive boost if the Gunners have Thomas Partey available, with Charles Watts of Goal revealing today that there’s quiet optimism that the Ghana international will play again.
However, Kieran Tierney is one player who won’t play again before next season, with the Scotland international confirming on Instagram earlier this month, and whatever happens, Mikel Arteta will be missing key figures.
