Kevin Campbell told the Transfer Show on Sky Sports (16/08/21 at 7:30 pm) that he thinks there is ‘infighting’ going on at Arsenal.
The Highbury legend was asked about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette’s recent absence from the Arsenal squad.
The duo missed their side’s opening day defeat to Brentford on Friday, with Mikel Arteta suggesting that they are ‘unwell’, as he told Goal.
But Campbell thinks there is more going on between the trio and ‘something isn’t right’ at the Emirates.
“I am not too sure what’s going on,” said Campbell. “Something isn’t right.
“Right up until the game, they were going to be in the starting line-up, then all of a sudden, they are out.
“So, if they are ill then let us know why they are ill. But I just think there is some infighting going on and Arsenal don’t need this because there’s some serious work to be done.”
It doesn’t help with rumours circulating that cash-strapped Barcelona are interested in Aubameyang, as reported by Sky Sports.
Plus, there have been other suggestions that Lacazette could also leave, which only adds fuel to the fire.
But the last thing Arteta needs is more unwanted drama poured onto the club because things aren’t going well as it is.
Last season, the Spanish coach survived some severe weather in North London, and if similar weather is forecast during these next few months for him, then Arteta surely won’t survive.
