Tottenham Hotspur’s performance against Chelsea, especially in the first half, has been widely criticised.

It was a very timid and negative performance from Tottenham in the London derby, and there is no surprise that Chelsea won the Premier League game 1-0.

Although Spurs stepped up their game in the second half and played more expansive football, it was simply not enough to win over some fans.

A rather damning stat has now emerged. The Spurs Web has reported that Son Heung-min’s first touch of the ball inside the Chelsea penalty box came in the 87th minute.

According to WhoScored, the South Korea international forward took two shots and one was on target, played two key passes, had a pass accuracy of 82.1%, took 46 touches, made one tackle and one interception, and put in two crosses.

With Harry Kane out injured, Son and Carlos Vinicius were deployed upfront. The South Korea international has scored 12 goals and provided six assists in the Premier League so far this season, according to WhoScored, but against Chelsea, he struggled.
