The Athletic have reported that some at the Tottenham Hotspur hierarchy were not happy with head coach Antonio Conte’s public comments about Tanguy Ndombele this season.

Ndombele returned to his former club Lyon on loan from Tottenham in the January transfer window.

The French club have an option to make the loan deal of the Tottenham midfielder permanent in the summer transfer window.

The Athletic have reported that in the weeks leading up to Ndombele’s loan move to Lyon, comments from Conte on the midfielder did not impress some at the Tottenham hierarchy.

The former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager publicly said the 25-year-old needed to work harder, and he also reportedly made him train on his own.

“His honesty was refreshing but some of the Spurs hierarchy were not thrilled with the head coach speaking critically of a player they were desperately trying to flog,” states the report in The Athletic.

No Tottenham future for Ndombele under Conte

In our opinion, Tanguy Ndombele does not have a future at Tottenham Hotspur under head coach Antonio Conte.

After all, Conte decided in January that he did not need him for the second half of the season.

And Tottenham eventually finished fourth in the Premier League table.

Now, we know that Ndombele is a very talented midfielder, but he is simply not consistent enough.

We do not think that Ndombele is the kind of player who would take Tottenham to the next level.

Remember, Spurs will be playing Champions League football next season.
