Peter Bosz has been speaking to the media about Tanguy Ndombele, after Lyon signed the Frenchman on loan from Tottenham.

What’s the story?

Well, despite making just four appearances since swapping the Premier League for Ligue 1, Ndombele has seemingly impressed the 58-year-old.

As quoted by Foot Mercato, the Lyon boss said: “What I can say is that since the two are in the group, they adapted very quickly to our game. For Tanguy, it was easier because he already knew Lyon. I’m very happy.”

Since returning to Lyon in January, Ndombele has made four appearances in Ligue 1, providing one assist.

The 25-year-old has played 90 minutes in his last three outings, and he seems to be getting back to his best.

If Ndombele continues to impress for Lyon, then he could rejoin them on a permanent basis.

According to Julien Maynard, Lyon have a €65m (£54m) option to buy the France international, a sum which would shatter their club-record transfer fee.

Tottenham mustn’t give up on Tanguy Ndombele

In our view, Spurs must give Ndombele another chance in the 2022/23 season, if Lyon decide not to sign him on a permanent basis.

The Longjumeau-born maestro was one of the best midfielders in Europe before Spurs spent £53.8m on him back in 2019.

Unfortunately, Ndombele only made 14 appearances under Mauricio Pochettino – the man who signed him – before the Argentine was sacked.

Since then, it has been chaotic at Spurs under Daniel Levy, with José Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte all failing to get anything out of the Frenchman.

Of course, Ndombele is the common denominator there, and he can certainly do better – that goes without saying.

Nevertheless, for the price he cost Tottenham, and the obvious talent he has in his locker, he deserves another opportunity in north London.
