Rangers got off to a tough start in the UEFA Champions League qualifying phase as the Scottish side lost 2-1 to Swedish side Malmo.
A 95th-minute strike from Steven Davis secured a vital away goal for Steven Gerrard’s side which all but saved the Glasgow side’s European dream.
The reigning Scottish Premiership champions have not played Champions League football in over ten years. And Davis’ late goal kept Rangers’ hopes of playing in Europe’s biggest competition alive.
Indeed, it was a poor performance overall from the Gers. But with the likes of Alfredo Morelos and Glen Kamara missing from the squad, Rangers were lacking key players in their Champions League return.
That doesn’t take away from the fact that the Scottish side were underwhelming on the night. However, one Rangers player stood out and caused Malmo problems in the club’s return to the Champions League.
That man was Scott Wright, who was a threat for Rangers all night. The £5,600-a-week star was a menace for the Swedish side, who attacked the wing well and caused Gerrard food for thought for next weeks’ return leg.

Moreover, supporters on social media were impressed with what they saw from the former Aberdeen star.
Here’s what some Rangers fans had to say on Twitter about Wright’s Champions League performance against Malmo…
