Some Liverpool fans on Twitter are suggesting that Loris Karius get another chance to save his career at Anfield.
The German goalkeeper hasn’t kicked a ball for the Reds since that Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid three years ago, in which he cost Jurgen Klopp’s side two goals in a 3-1 loss.
Since then, Liverpool have loaned him out to Besiktas to Union Berlin, but he’s set to return for pre-season and some fans of the club want him recalled to the senior squad next term.
The 28-year-old, a £4.7 million signing in 2016, himself told Bild on Saturday that he could leave Merseyside on a permanent basis.
Here’s how some Liverpool supporters reacted to the prospect of him leaving, with some suggesting that he’s better than Adrian, who is Alisson’s number two.
Is he better than Adrian?
Frankly, who cares?
Adrian probably isn’t going to be Liverpool’s number two to Alisson next season.
Caoimhin Kelleher signed a new contract with Klopp’s side on Friday afternoon and after his performances last season, it’s very possible that the 22-year-old Irishman will be Alisson’s primary deputy.
There’s no doubt that Karius has ability because, remember, he still started the Champions League final and every game leading up to it.
But mentally, it’s such a difficult thing to come back from and although he can still have a good career, it just won’t be at Liverpool.
