Jack Grealish scored his first goal for Manchester City today since quitting Aston Villa in a £100 million deal earlier this month.
Pep Guardiola’s side thumped Norwich City 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
And it was the former Aston Villa attacker who gave his new club a 2-0 lead – in what may be the luckiest goal of his career.
The ball rebounded off Grealish’s thigh and trickled over the line but, as Gary Lineker pointed out, they all count.
It was also the 25-year-old’s home debut for Manchester City and here’s how some Aston Villa fans responded to his post-match tweet:
First win
As the last tweeter pointed out, Aston Villa also won today.
Dean Smith’s side picked up their first win without Grealish by beating Newcastle United 2-0 this afternoon.
The Villans are going to need a new hero in light of their academy star’s exit.
And by virtue of the fact that Danny Ings scored a spectacular scissor kick, perhaps it could be the former Southampton and Liverpool marksman.
