Some Arsenal fans on Twitter have a feeling that Gabriel Martinelli will start tomorrow’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa.
Arsenal kick off the weekend games with a visit of Villa to the Emirates Stadium.
Bukayo Saka has been passed fit to start after his wallop by Crystal Palace’s James McArthur on Monday night.
But considering the 20-year-old went off injured at half time on that occasion, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta may not risk him.
The Spanish coach threw Martinelli – a £6 million signing in 2019 – into the mix for the final 10 minutes against the Eagles and the Brazilian impressed in a big way.
Since the start of last season, Martinelli has managed less than nine full games of Premier League football in terms of minutes.
But Arsenal fans think that Arteta could give the 20-year-old dynamo a rare start tomorrow night:
Here’s what they’re saying:
Talent of the century
That’s what Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp described him as two years ago.
But it’s fair to say that since that praise, Martinelli hasn’t really developed as Arsenal would’ve liked since then.
It isn’t a case of complacency; it’s more that Arteta isn’t getting the very best out of him, the standard that Unai Emery pulled from him.
But hopefully for Arsenal, the 39-year-old coach can still bring Martinelli to the next level…….eventually.
