Rangers returned for pre-season training on Monday as they prepare for the defence of their Scottish Premiership title – and Gers fans have been impressed by the change in Ianis Hagi’s physique.

The Romanian star reported for training with the rest of his teammates and was pictured in the club’s official gallery looking like he’s added some bulk over the summer.

After missing out on the chance to represent his country at this summer’s Olympic Games in Tokyo, Hagi will have an important role for Rangers as they look to make their way through two rounds of qualifying for the Champions League.

The Rangers star scored eight times, chipping in a further 15 assists, last season and has shown signs he’s developing into the player his potential suggests he can become.

One of the main complaints from Rangers fans over his performances last season were that he looked a little lightweight in the tackle, despite putting plenty of effort in, and this should help the defensive side of his game in the long-term.

Fans were quick to highlight the fact that Hagi appeared noticeably bigger in the images from Rangers’ pre-season training, leading to some getting excited over what he could bring in the new campaign.

Rangers kick off their pre-season friendlies with the short trip to Firhill on Monday to take on Partick Thistle, before clashes with Tranmere Rovers, Arsenal and Blackpool over the coming weeks.

Steven Gerrard’s side play their first opening Premiership fixture on July 31 when the host Livingston at Ibrox, days Champions League qualifier on August 3/4.
