The 2026 FIFA World Cup has ended with Spain defeating Argentina in the final game of the tournament.

It would be an understatement to say that it was a one-sided game as Spain utterly obliterated the defending World Cup champions.

Despite controlling the majority of the game, Spain ended the game with a 1-0 win over Argentina. It was Ferran Torres who scored the winner when every Spanish player was unable to beat Emiliano Martinez.

World Cup fans think Emiliano Martinez deserved Man of the Match award over Ferran Torres

Torres’ 106th-minute winner helped him bag the World Cup final Man of the Match award. While Spanish fans would agree that he deserved the honor, a lot of fans believe Martinez deserved the award.

“Should have gone to Argentina’s goalkeeper,” a fan wrote. While another added, “I thought Argentina’s goalkeeper would win it.”

“Honestly speaking Ferran Torres did not deserve the man of the match award,” a third fan stated.

“It should have gone to E Martinez,” a fourth fan pointed out. While a fifth fan wrote, “So random, Emiliano Martinez would’ve deserved it if only Argentina had won.”

There’s no doubt that Torres’ goal was the most important moment of the game, but Martinez was a wall for Argentina throughout the game.

In fact, he broke the record for most saves in a single World Cup final game with 11 saves against Spain. However, at the end of the day, ending up on the losing side destroyed his chances of winning the honor.
