Napoli superstar Victor Osimhen has named Tottenham defender Cristian Romero as his toughest opponent so far during the Argentine’s time in Serie A.
Speaking to La Repubblica via Spazio Napoli, the Nigerian international was asked who his most difficult defenders to face have been so far in his career, with the striker naming Romero as well as teammate Kalidou Koulibaly in training.
A striker Napoli reportedly value at €100m (£83m), Osimhen has been one of Serie A’s best attackers this season, with the 23-year-old bagging ten goals in all competitions as Napoli sit just one point off top spot in the Italian top-flight.
A target for Premier League clubs if reports are to be believed, Osimhen has been a titan in the attack for Napoli this campaign, with the striker making light work of some of Italy’s sturdiest defences.
Yet when asked about who his toughest opponent in football has so far been, the former LOSC Lille star named Tottenham star Romero, who is now starting to shine under Antonio Conte in north London.
Osimhen said: “Romero, now at Tottenham. He was so skilled in marking me and he was faster than me. He anticipated everything. Koulibaly in training is also another player, he never lets me score in training.”

When Romero joined Tottenham in the summer, supporters thought their defensive worries would disappear into the wind. Yet as we have seen, it has taken some time for the centre-back to become adjusted to the English game.
Yet after some time, we are now starting to see the best of Romero, who was one of the best players on the pitch on Saturday in the FA Cup for Tottenham, and Osimhen’s praise of the defender shows that the best is yet to come from the former Atalanta star.
