It seems as though Tottenham are in the market for a new winger, and with their pursuit of Adama Traore hitting a bit of a speedbump, they may need to look at other options.

Jeunes Footeux report that Tottenham have an interest in Rennes winger Jeremy Doku, and that’s an incredibly exciting prospect.

Doku is similar to Traore in that his pace is his greatest attribute, but there is also so much more to his game.

However, you can’t speak about Doku without speaking about his speed. The teenager is absolutely rapid, and his former manager believes he’s one of the quickest he’s ever seen.

“I have rarely seen a player with so much explosiveness on the first meters, who can accelerate so quickly and change direction, while also maintaining perfect control of his body and the ball,” His former gaffer said.

What’s important in that description is the fact his ex-coach says he has perfect control of his body and the ball when he runs, which is one of the biggest criticisms of Traore.

We hate to dumb things down, but far too often when Traore dribbles he relies on his physical attributes, often ending up just knocking the ball ahead of himself and sprinting after it, rather than using tricks, skill or guile to beat a man.

On the other hand, Doku can combine immense pace with brilliant ability on the ball, with Gary Lineker even stating that he made him dizzy during the Euros with all of his tricks.

If you need another indicator of how good Doku is, he has 10 Belgium caps at the age of 19, meanwhile, Traore only has six for Spain at the age of 25, despite the fact the 2010 World Champions are a lower-ranked team according to FIFA.

Add into this the fact that the teenager is far from the finished product, and you have an incredibly talented prospect.

The winger could be an even scarier option than Adama Traore due to the fact he’s seemingly better on the ball, just as quick and has more room to grow.
