Angel Gomes has posted on his Instagram story that he is ‘so happy’ for Sven Botman ahead of his rumoured transfer to Newcastle United.
The former Manchester United player added that Botman ‘deserves everything’, after he sent his good wishes to Lille on Instagram on Monday.
Whilst Botman confirmed that he is heading for the exit door, there was no direct hint at that Newcastle transfer, although, Sky Sports have reported that the Magpies are paying £35 million for his services after he completed his medical.
Furthermore, he was seemingly on his travels yesterday, as he posted on his own IG story ‘showtime’ and then a picture of an aircraft.
Nonetheless, when Botman posted his goodbye message to the Lille supporters, and made reference to their title win two seasons ago, this is what Gomes had to say to his soon-to-be-former teammate.
“So happy for you my brother,” wrote Gomes. “You deserve everything. The gang is gonna miss you man.”
BOTMAN A SIGNING OF INTENT FROM NEWCASTLE
This is yet another signal that Newcastle are in a new era, sending out signals of intent and proof that this Saudi-led ownership means serious business.
When the Botman deal is confirmed, then that will mean that Eddie Howe has brought in Kieran Trippier, Dan Burn, Matt Targett and Nick Pope as his defensive signings.
That’s a whole backline, plus a goalkeeper, in next to no time, but many of the Toon Army faithful will point out that it was much, much needed.
Either way, after Botman, it will be interesting to see what road the club go down next because more depth in quality is needed in the final third.
