Cristian Stellini has singled out three Tottenham Hotspur players for praise.

A below-strength Spurs XI moved into the next round of the FA Cup by edging past Portsmouth this afternoon in North London.

Harry Kane’s goal was the only one of the game as Antonio Conte’s side advanced.

Twenty-year-old Pape Matar Sarr made his full senior debut in a Conte XI, along with other youngsters like Bryan Gil and Oliver Skipp.

And Stellini, Conte’s assistant at Tottenham, has lavished praise on all three of them.

He told Football London: “Pape, Skipp and Gil they were so good today. They moved the ball so well.”

This is genuinely encouraging to see.

Everybody knows what an excellent talent Skipp is, but it’s lovely to see others like Gil and Sarr begin to make waves in North London.

Both arrived as young players in Fabio Paratici’s first transfer window as overseeing Tottenham’s signings.

And although it’s taken a while, with Sarr on loan last season and Gil beginning to play more regularly, Paratici will be hugely encouraged by what he’s seeing.

And yes, it has taken a while.

But when you sign young players, you do so for the future and based on how they’re developing, it’s safe to say that the Lilywhites’ future remains bright.
