Gabriel Martinelli has been tipped as a potential replacement for Gabriel Jesus at Arsenal.
According to Sky Sports, the latter is looking at a possible three months on the sidelines after undergoing a knee surgery on Tuesday.
With Jesus starting every Premier League game for the table-topping Arsenal this season, it’s an enormous blow to say the least.
Question is, who’s going to replace him?
Eddie Nketiah is the only other number nine in Mikel Arteta’s senior squad at the moment but with the 23-year-old failing to score from 12 Premier League games this season, more will be needed.

And according to journalist Dean Jones, Martinelli as a number nine could be explored.
He told Give Me Sport: “I’m sure Martinelli could play it, but the question would be, ‘do they want him to play that role every week when he’s been so good in different a different position?’ Ultimately, Arsenal probably want to have players that are flexible in what they can do.
On Monday, HITC Sport wrote about how Arsenal could indeed use Martinelli – a £6 million signing in 2019 [GOAL] – up front.
Then again, only if Arteta can successfully sign Mykhaylo Mudryk of Shakhtar Donetsk, who is heavily linked with a transfer to the Emirates Stadium.
Martinelli has enjoyed an explosive season on that left-hand side of attack for Arsenal and Arteta won’t want to unleash him in a different role unless for the replacement for him is also top drawer.
