Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier is the most relieved man in North London at the moment.
Spurs welcomed Newcastle United in the Premier League this evening in what was a difficult test for Antonio Conte’s troops.
The Magpies have been in cracking form as of late and they almost took the lead on 20 minutes, albeit in farcical circumstances.
A heavy backpass by Dier wound up deceiving Hugo Lloris and rolled narrowly wide of the Frenchman’s post.

It was a nervy moment for the England international and Andy Townsend has labelled the Tottenham man as ‘so careless’ who simply lacked concentration.
He said live on Optus Sport [20 mins]: “Where’s he going with that? That’s so careless that is. It almost goes down as a shot! That’s how hard he hits it. Lacking concentration that is.”
There was another howler from a Tottenham player shortly after – and this time, it did prove costly.
Lloris raced off his line to clear a long ball from Newcastle, but he tried to control it and Callum Wilson wound up lobbing the France international.
The goal was checked by VAR and ultimately Wilson was found to be an innocent party, after colliding with Lloris.
It was yet another stinker for a goalkeeper who’s specialising in them as of late, with Ian Wright labelling his mistake versus Arsenal ‘terrible‘ earlier in October.
Lloris was arguably complicit for the second goal that the Lilywhites conceded too, with his floated pass cut out by Miguel Almiron who who wound up adding a second.
It’s been an awful first 45 minutes for the hosts and Conte will be disgusted with some of his players, namely Dier and Lloris.
