Reported Arsenal target Martin Satriano turned down the Gunners before joining Inter Milan in January 2020, the striker’s agent has told Tuttosport, via Sempre Inter.
The highly rated striker hasn’t even forced his way into the first team at the San Siro yet but it hasn’t taken long for that ‘new Luis Suarez’ nickname to materialise.
And although Satriano has a long way to go before he can realistically claim to have matched the achievements of his fellow Uruguayan – Suarez is one of the most decorated strikers of the past decade after all – you can certainly see where those comparisons come from.
Like Atletico Madrid’s La Liga winner, Satriano is a lethal finisher whose all-round game and predatory instincts strike fear into the heart of defenders everywhere, albeit at youth level.
Why Satriano didn’t join Arsenal
Last month, the Daily Mail reported Everton, West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur were all looking to lure the former Nacional youngster away from the San Siro.
Arsenal are interested too, hoping for second time lucky as they renew their interest in a player who turned the Gunners down 19 months ago.
“Inter is Inter. The Nerazzurri snatched him from Cagliari and Arsenal (in January 2020),” agent Nick Maytum explains.
“Martin was very excited when he signed with the Nerazzurri despite being young – and this signing meant a change of lifestyle from a very young age.”
Satriano scored 14 goals and produced six assists for Inter’s youth side last season.
And while this fresh-faced poacher has previously indicated he would relish the prospect of making his name in the Premier League – admitting interest from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City was “flattering” – Satriano is fully focused on honing his talents in blue and black for the time being.
