Graham Smyth has posted a short video behind the scenes in Leeds United training on Thursday morning – including three words new manager Jesse Marsch shouted at the players during the session: “Good energy, guys”.

Unlike beforehand under Marcelo Bielsa, it appears media were allowed to watch parts of Thursday’s training session ahead of Marsch’s first press conference as Leeds manager. Leeds face Leicester on Saturday lunchtime.

During the initial stages of the session, the Leeds players performed a rondo in which Jamie Shackleton and Pascal Struijk are chasing after passes from the likes of Stuart Dallas, Patrick Bamford, Luke Ayling and Rodrigo.

Smyth took a short video of the rondo, in which you can hear the new manager’s voice towards the end. Telling players to get a drink and join him near some poles, he also tells the players they are showing “good energy”.

What can Leeds fans expect from Marsch’s first match in charge?

With 12 Premier League games left to play and only two points separating the Whites from the relegation zone, the pressure is really on. Leeds and Marsch must hit the ground running to stave off the threat of relegation.

Numerous reports suggest that Marsch favours a 4-2-2-2 system. It is also expected that Leeds will play more zonally, in comparison to Marcelo Bielsa’s man-for-man style. But a trip to Leicester will be a tricky one.

Bamford is back in training, which is an enormous boost for the Whites – Smyth reporting that he was “very involved”. So, it could be a different style, different formation and different personnel against Leicester.
