West Ham United striker Andy Carroll has been on fire recently.
Speaking to reporters in the wake of his side’s disappointing 2-2 with West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, Hammers boss Slaven Bilic talked up the prospect of Andy Carroll linking up with the England squad for their upcoming internationals, despite David Sullivan insisting that he would prefer the in-form striker to be rested, rather than risk further injury, as quoted by the Telegraph.

The 28-year-old missed West Ham’s game on Saturday, after scoring four goals in his previous four league outings, and many pundits and fans alike were calling for Gareth Southgate to include him in the next Three Lions squad.
The club’s co-owner David Sullivan wrote in his programmes notes, however, that it would be in Carroll’s best interest to be omitted from the squad, for the benefit of his long-term playing career (Telegraph).
But Bilic insisted that a call-up to the national team would be hugely beneficial for Carroll, as quoted by the Telegraph:

“I want him to get picked for England. It’s a great thing for him. It would be a great thing for him and a great thing for the club. The boost and the confidence that every player gets when he gets a call-up for the national team is much more than the couple of days that he loses, or that he would use to rest. On the scale, the positives are much bigger.”

West Ham actually have a two week break from action now, due to their early exit from the FA Cup, and are heading out to Dubai for a warm weather training camp.
