Liverpool-linked David Alaba hasn’t held back when talking about his frustrations with Bayern Munich during a revealing interview with Sky Germany.
The Austrian’s contract with the European Champions is due to end on 30 June and both parties have been unable to reach an agreement to keep the left-footed defender at the Allianz Arena.
The Sun has named Liverpool as one of the clubs targeting a move for the talented defender when his contract expires.
And the 28-year-old’s words will certainly prick the ears of everyone at Anfield.
“After the second or third conversation (about the new contract), I got a call and was asked if I could imagine being included in a swap deal,” Alaba told Sky Germany. “That probably was a slap in the face.
“The respect and appreciation I was looking for when the contract negotiations started was not going in the right direction. That was a year ago now. In times when coronavirus was still very far away.”
However, despite airing his grievances with the club, the defender was unwilling to rule out extending his stay with the German giants.
There’s no doubt his future at Bayern is uncertain, however, after the Bavarians withdrew their latest contract offer.
When asked whether his time at the club was over, he said: “I’m not thinking about that. I’ve only found out about it from the news yesterday evening and haven’t had time to think. We’ll see what happens in the future.”

Alaba’s availability could provide a major boost to Liverpool, especially with their defensive injury crisis.
If the early parts of this season have taught the Reds anything, it’s they need further defensive reinforcements. Signing a man capable of playing at left-back and centre-back to a high level would be a welcome addition.
Liverpool don’t have a clear path to signing Alaba, however. Reports emerged over the weekend that PSG, Manchester City and Juventus are also interested.
This is a saga certainly worth following.
