Liverpool’s first-team trained yesterday before jetting off to Italy for the Champions League clash against Serie A side Atalanta, and a rarely-seen face was spotted amongst the crowd.

Incidentally, it was Kostas Tsimikas who had rejoined the group.

Liverpool’s £11.75 million summer signing has been missing through injury ever since making his Reds debut in the Carabao Cup win over Lincoln City earlier this season.

That appearance was the one and only game Jurgen Klopp has played him in due to injury, but the Greece international is now back and in contention to face Atalanta.

Here he is looking all wrapped up in training on Monday.

Even if the 24-year-old had been able to stay fit, his chances of playing time at Anfield appear to be slim with arguably Europe’s best left-back in Andrew Robertson ahead of him.

However, his presence is vital nonetheless. Tsimikas being available means that Klopp no longer has to play James Milner at left-back occasionally.

The veteran midfielder has never let Liverpool down when playing there, but it’s better to have a natural option for the role.

The Premier League champions take on Atalanta at 8pm tonight, where Tsimikas could potentially make his Champions League debut for the Reds.
