According to Sky Sports, West Ham are still waiting for Jesse Lingard to respond after sending him a contract offer.
What’s the story?
Well, the 29-year-old officially becomes a free agent tomorrow when his contract with Manchester United expires.
Newcastle were also expressing an interest in the England international, although it is said that the Magpies backed away after learning that he wanted £200,000-a-week.
However, that doesn’t seem to have put David Moyes off, as the Hammers have left a contract offer on the table for Lingard to mull over – Everton, another side monitoring the situation, could also get involved.
West Ham supporters hold the Warrington-born attacker in high regard, after he remarkably scored nine goals in just 16 Premier League appearances for the Irons in the 2020/21 campaign.
Lingard also provided four assists during that mesmeric loan spell in east London.
Live on Sky Sports earlier today, a reporter said: “Just a few developments on the future of Jesse Lingard. West Ham feel they have made a good offer, and remain hopeful he will sign.”

Clearly, West Ham believe they have made Lingard a fair offer, so the lack of a response is interesting.
Is he waiting for better options, or is he simply giving it a good think? Only time will tell.
Jesse Lingard should join West Ham
In our view, Lingard would be a fool to ignore West Ham.
In fact, he should’ve joined the Hammers on a permanent basis immediately after that stunning loan spell, as Moyes clearly has a system he can thrive in at the London Stadium.

Lingard was among the best performers in Europe, let alone the Premier League, during his time in east London, and we believe he will have an enjoyable time if he commits the next few years of his career to the Irons.
Moyes knows him, Lingard knows most of the West Ham squad, and he is already a firm fan favourite.
In that respect, he should put pen to paper on West Ham’s contract offer soon, in order to get a full pre-season under his belt.
