Sheffield Wednesday play host to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship tonight.

Sky Sports pundit David Prutton predicted the outcome of tonight’s Championship clash between the Owls and Wolves, when writing his regular prediction column for Sky Sports.

Wednesday have really struggled this season, after impressing over the last two campaigns, and they currently sit in a lowly 15th position in the Championship, a distant 10 points adrift of bitter rivals Sheffield United in sixth position.

The Black Country outfit, meanwhile, have hardly put a foot wrong so far this season, and currently sit comfortably at the top of the Championship table, four points clear of second placed Cardiff City, and perhaps more importantly, eight points clear of third placed Bristol City.

Tonight’s game will be hugely important for both clubs, but for very different reasons.

Prutton made his prediction for the match, when writing his regular column for Sky Sports, highlighting how important the game is for both sides:

Carlos Carvalhal Manager of Sheffield Wednesday looks on prior to the Sky Bet Championship match between Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday at St Andrews (stadium) on September 27,...

“It’s getting towards crunch time for Carlos Carvalhal at Sheffield Wednesday now. The Owls have made the play-offs in the past two seasons, but have shown few signs so far this campaign of reaching those heights again. Wolves, meanwhile, suffered a surprising blip at home to Sunderland last week in a game many expected for them to win comfortably. But they generally bounce straight back from a blip and I think they’ll have too much here.”

Prediction: Sheffield Wednesday 1-2 Wolves

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men can stretch their lead at the top of the table to seven points with a win tonight, whilst Carvalhal’s side can climb as high as 11th if they manage to secure all three points at Hillsborough tonight.
