The Wolverhampton Wanderers man has found a new lease of life this season.

Wolves ace Romain Saiss sat down for an exclusive interview with the Guardian, and blasted Nuno Espirito Santo’s predecessor Paul Lambert for his man management.

The 27-year-old was left out of the team by the Scot last term for a prolonged period of time, as the Black Country outfit continued to struggle in the Championship.

Saiss moved to Molineux in the summer of 2016 from Angers, and he has flourished under the guidance of Nuno this term, showcasing his importance to the Wolves side.

Last season was not quite as seamless for the Moroccan, however.

Saiss has already played 20 Championship games under Nuno this season, just four fewer appearances than he made for the entire league campaign last term.

And the 27-year-old shared his frustration at how Paul Lambert handled affairs at Molineux last season, during an exclusive interview with the Guardian:

“The team was in difficulty towards the bottom of the table, winning matches in the FA Cup but not in the league, but I wasn’t being picked; I’ll leave it to you to work out why. I didn’t want to create trouble so just carried on working but at the end of the season it was important for me to ask the manager why he had left me out of the team for, strangely enough, basically the same amount of time that I had been away on international duty. I knew the truth but wanted to hear it from him. But he couldn’t tell me, he hid behind other excuses, which was a pity. But that’s life and I just got on with it.”

Wolves currently sit comfortably at the top of the Championship table, with Saiss playing a key role, having appeared in all but one of the Black Country outfit’s Championship games.

Next up for Nuno’s men is a trip to south Yorkshire to take on Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow night.
