Sky Sports pundit David Prutton predicted the outcome of the Championship clash between the Rams and the Villans on Saturday, when writing his regular prediction column for Sky Sports.

Steve Bruce’s men head to Pride Park on the back of consecutive draws in the league, although they won their previous three fixtures, and will be looking to leapfrog the hosts with a victory.

Gary Rowett’s side, meanwhile, are one of the Championship’s most in-form teams, having won four of their last five outings, and they will have one eye on the automatic promotion spots.

Villa had the better of Derby last term, taking four points from the two games they played against each other, but this season’s game has taken on a far more important feel, with both sides currently inside the play-off promotion spots.

And Prutton predicted that Saturday’s encounter between the two Midlands clubs will be packed full of goals, when writing his regular prediction column for Sky Sports:

Steve Bruce, Manager of Aston Villa looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Fulham and Aston Villa at Craven Cottage on April 17, 2017 in London, England.

“Now this is a big game! If either of these sides really wants to kick on and challenge for a place in the top two then victory would be a big statement at Pride Park on Saturday. Derby have won four of their last five and conceded just a single goal in that run, so Villa may find it tough to break them down. But if Villa score early and both teams go for it then I fancy an entertaining draw.”

Prediction: Derby County 2-2 Aston Villa

The game kicks off on Saturday at 15:00, and both sides can climb as high as third with a victory.
