Pundit Andy Hinchcliffe has told Sky Sports’ EFL Weekly Podcast that he would be ‘surprised’ if Fleetwood Town manager Uwe Rosler rejected Norwich City, should they make him an offer.

The Canaries parted company with Alex Neil earlier this month, and whilst a new manager is a priority, Alan Irvine’s service as caretaker boss means that Norwich have focused on other areas.

Norwich are hoping to land Huddersfield Town’s Stuart Webber as Director of Football, and that move appears to be edging closer after the Terriers confirmed on their official website earlier today that Webber has been placed on gardening leave having asked to go.

The Sun claimed over the weekend that, should Webber land the job, then he wants to lure Fleetwood Town boss Uwe Rosler as Neil’s replacement in what would be a fascinating move.

Webber has seen German boss David Wagner revolutionise Huddersfield, putting them in contention for a Premier League spot, and fellow German Rosler may be seen as somebody can bring a similar approach to Norwich.

The 48-year-old, who was sacked by Leeds United in October 2015, has rebuilt his reputation with Fleetwood Town in League One, taking the unfancied Cod Army to third in the League One table, just six points off automatic promotion.

Rosler’s exploits in Lancashire have sparked rumours about his future, and whilst he has told ITV that the Norwich speculation is ‘fake news’, pundits are offering their view on the possible move.

Andy Hinchcliffe has told Sky Sports’ EFL Weekly Podcast that he thinks Fleetwood or Norwich is a more difficult decision for Rosler to make than many would believe, but having rebuilt his career, Hinchcliffe admitted that he would be ‘surprised’ if the ex-Manchester City striker snubbed Norwich should they make him an offer.

“Fleetwood will be desperate to keep him,” said Hinchcliffe. “He kind of fell off the radar a little bit after having a difficult time at Wigan, but he’s gone to Fleetwood and what an incredible job he’s done there. They’ve got the second best defence in League One, that’s why they’re riding so high, he’s won twice as many games as he’s lost, so he’s restored his reputation, and that’s why clubs like Norwich are looking at Uwe Rosler.”

“It’s a difficult one for him. Fleetwood could get promoted to the Championship anyway, so it’s not an easy decision to make, and he’s got to think long and hard. With that said, if Norwich do come for him, I would be surprised if Uwe actually resisted that,” he added.
