Jamie Redknapp told Super Sunday on Sky Sports that he ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ at the rumours that Harry Kane will ask to leave Tottenham if they fail to secure Champions League football.
There has been a lot of talk about Kane’s future at Spurs in recent months, with the Englishman producing the best season of his professional career but his club in decline.
Amid rumours stating that Kane has expressed a desire to leave if top-four isn’t secured, Fabrizio Romano has shared that Daniel Levy will do everything in his power to keep him in North London.
But following those rumours, which circulated from the weekend, Redknapp stated that ‘it makes you question what will happen’.
“I wouldn’t be surprised,” said Redknapp. “He’s a man of few words if it comes to anything else apart from football.
“Normally, he does his talking on the pitch and he doesn’t stay a lot. And the fact that the quotes are out there now, it makes you question what will happen.
“He has put it on. He has said ‘I want to be in the top-four and I want to be playing Champions League football’. There is still a chance they can win a cup.
“But if they were to win a trophy and finish in the top four then it’s been a very successful season. If they don’t then they are certainly going to risk losing their talisman.”

Not just under Jose Mourinho, but previously under Mauricio Pochettino, Spurs failed to really refresh their squad when it needed changing.
Moving into their new stadium didn’t help proceedings but it has resulted in them stagnating on the pitch.
And now there are a number of Tottenham players in decline and a squad that can no longer perform on a consistent basis.
