Jody Morris has made it clear that it would be a ‘huge loss’ for Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United if they lose Kieran Trippier to Bayern Munich this month.
Sources have previously told HITC Football that the German club are interested in the right-back and he is keen on a reunion with Harry Kane and Eric Dier.
Kieran Trippier has been a pivotal player for Newcastle United ever since his transfer from Atletico Madrid in 2022.
The 33-year-old played a key role in why the team secured a surprise Champions League finish last term following major changes when the Saudis entered the St James’ building.
Former Chelsea coach Jody Morris spoke about Kieran Trippier’s situation and the type of leader he is, both on and off the field, as he told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports.
Newcastle United are currently sitting tenth in the Premier League table and if the Magpies are to climb back into the European places, then they need their skipper to stay.
But what if they decide to let him go? Well, Jody Morris worked with Tino Livramento during his time at Stamford Bridge and suggested he could be a ‘ready-made’ replacement.
Kieran Trippier’s future at Newcastle United
“When you are talking about a loss, there aren’t many who would be a bigger loss than Kieran Trippier,” said Morris.
“I think the main aspect of this talk, or rumour if you want to call it, would be whether he wants to actually move. As much as he is a great pro. You have seen the performances he has handed in since he has been at the club. He is part of the leadership group. He is a leader on and off the pitch. Started the revolution if you like.
“If he actually fancies the move. You would like to think there wouldn’t be as much noise if he didn’t fancy the move. That’s the only thing Eddie will be worried about if one of his main players wants to leave the club.
“But as far as a loss, I mean that would be huge. Saying that, are they thinking they have a ready-made replacement in Tino Livramento, who has impressed so much.”

Bayern Munich hard to turn down
As Trippier would have experienced in Spain, there are a lot of benefits from playing abroad and winning silverware.
Bayern are the kings of Germany, yes, they have a fight on their hands this season with Bayer Leverkusen, but they win trophies for fun.
And going to a club the size of Bayern, plus winning more trophies, is something very hard to turn down and you can understand if he wants to go.
But, at the end of the day, if you are Newcastle, given the importance of the man, you will make it even more difficult to let him go.
Plus, you will demand serious dough because it’s not like Newcastle are in the middle of the summer where they can go and bring somebody else in.
