Scott Sinclair has raved about reported Liverpool target Odsonne Edouard in Herald Scotland and has backed the Celtic striker to score against Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.
Journalist Ian McGarry said on the Transfer Window Podcast this week that Liverpool, as well as Arsenal, are chasing Celtic striker Edouard, as covered by HITC Sport.
The defending Premier League champions reportedly expect one of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino or Sadio Mane to leave and want the French striker as a replacement.
The 23-year-old will be in action this afternoon and will line up for Celtic in the Old Firm derby against Rangers at Celtic Park this afternoon.
Ahead of the game, former Celtic winger Sinclair – now at Preston North End in the Championship in England – has backed his ex-teammate Edouard to score against the Gers, who are now managed by Liverpool legend Gerrard and has spoken highly of him.
Sinclair said about Edouard in Herald Scotland: “I think he is a player who comes alive on the big stage. He is a pretty chilled out guy off the park too and on it he is very calm and very measured. He has the right temperament to play at the very top level.
“He will love the fact that before he heads off to play in a tournament where France are the favourites to win it that he will be playing Rangers.
“It gives him the chance to go there with a spring in his step and a bit of confidence. He will also be keen to score against Rangers and help Celtic win the game because it is a game that you never want to lose in.”

Impressing Liverpool
Edouard is a proven goalscorer who is a big player for Celtic, and Liverpool should keep a close eye on the 23-year-old today.
The striker turns up on the big occasions, and the 23-year-old will be hoping to impress the Reds.
According to WhoScored, the youngster has scored 16 goals and provided two assists in 25 Scottish Premiership matches for Celtic so far this season.
