Arsenal attacker Alexandre Lacazette has said Mikel Arteta has changed everything at the club for the better, namely the mentality of the players in the squad.

In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, the Frenchman revealed that the 40-year-old manager has transformed the Gunners from the inside out, with Arsenal on the cusp of finishing in the top four for the first time in six years.

Arteta has received backing from the board and given free rein to make decisions he believes will make the club better, and this season has seen the fruits of his labour come into bloom in a manner very few fans expected.

Signings made last summer have transformed the club whilst big sales such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have been hardly felt. And for Lacazette, Arsenal’s incredible form this season is down to the changes Arteta has brought.

The £50m 2017 signing from Olympique Lyonnais said: “We’re focused on being in the top four. We want to get the team into the Champions League next season. We work for it all week, and at the moment, it’s working.

Lacazette added: “We want to continue like this, working hard every day to play well at the weekend. Arteta is the leader, the boss, even the boss of the club. Since he arrived, a lot of things have changed, including everyone’s mentality. It’s all about him.”

Appointing Arteta was always going to be a risk for Arsenal, yet over two years since the decision, it’s safe to say that the north London club have made the right choice in appointing the former Manchester City coach.

Indeed, Arteta has transformed Arsenal back into the giant of English football that many fans were desperate to see the club return to. And for the first time in years, there is genuine hope amongst supporters over what the future can hold for the Gunners.
